Rock Choir Musical Evening Success

If you weren't able to come along to the musical evening on Friday 31st March then there's an opportunity to see a part of what you missed. Read on.

The event is raising funds for the maintenance of the Community Halls and Church building and grateful thanks to those who made generous cash donations of £296 on the evening, the audience were also provided as they arrived with bank account details to enable online transfers. If you'd like to make a donation, the bank details are provided below and thank you very much for anything you are able to donate.

The first half began with the combined Brigades of Matlock with a wonderful performance of The Greatest Showman and a charming rendition of Bim Bam which the audience really joined in with well. The angelic voice of Louise Blair was next on the programme and with beautiful singing accompanied by Tom Pilkington on the guitar, the audience raised the roof with their applause. Tom followed this with his amazing skills of singing and playing guitar with harmonica accompaniment. The first half of the evening was rounded off by the Matlock Ukele Group, Strummers who were persuaded to give an encore to their set of four entertaining pieces.

After an interval of refreshments including wonderful cakes and hot & cold drinks the audience returned to a full second half of the combined Rock Choirs of Choir Leader Tom Rigby who had travelled from Rotherham, Sheffield, Worksop and Chesterfield to join with the Matlock choir, which is based at MMURC (Wednesdays 7:30pm). The performance was recorded by Andrew Sheppard. and an edited recording is available to view on the link below. We hope you enjoy this and if you are able to make a donation, the bank details are provided above for online bank transfers.
