Seasons

There are many significant occasions in the calendar of a church, each year we follow the seasons and the liturgy of the Methodist handbook. But like all Churches we have our traditions. How do we celebrate the seasons?

Easter

The Easter season begins with our children’s clubs celebrating Pancake Day and hearing about the meaning of Lent. For the adults we usually run a Lent course in person or on Zoom. There are normally services throughout Holy Week, including a Good Friday service where several churches come together in Hall Leys Park, after which a wooden cross is carried through the town as an act of witness that Jesus died for us. The joy of the resurrection is celebrated on Easter Sunday with an all age service.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 (NLT)
