Lord Jesus Christ, like those who stood at the foot of the cross, watching as you writhed in agony, cried out in despair and breathed your last, help us today to glimpse the astounding extent of your love, the immensity of your sacrifice and the awful reality of what you suffered. Help us through that to understand how much you love us and how much you were ready to bear to overcome everything that keeps us from you, and may that knowledge feed our faith, deepen our discipleship and reinforce our resolve to follow you, by your grace, and in your strength. Amen
